Why Is Latex So Expensive?

We often encounter two frequently asked questions: "What makes latex so costly?" and "How do you rationalize the pricing of your dresses?" We're sharing the details with you, to gain insights into the origins of latex and share our efforts to maintain competitive and inclusive pricing.
What Contributes To The Costs In Producing Latex?

The main reason of the cost is the time and expertise needed in the manufacturing process. Achieving the perfect techniques demands lengthy practice and training to craft latex items that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also durable over time. For instance, crafting a basic latex catsuit, that doesn't have any extra features or panelling, can take up more than 7 hours for cutting and assembling, essentially a whole day!

How Are Latex Garments Produced?

The majority of our latex products are crafted using latex sheeting with thicknesses ranging from 0.33mm to 0.45mm. However, we currently offer a men's catsuit and vest made from robust 0.55mm latex for those seeking a more substantial feel.
In general, when latex is manufactured with a thicker gauge, it tends to have less stretch or is more resistant to stretching compared to thinner materials, which are remarkably easy to stretch. On the other hand, thicker latex is more durable than its thinner counterparts. With proper care, it can have a long lifespan, irrespective of its thickness.

How Is Seamless Latex Crafted?

The process of creating moulded latex, also known as seamless latex, involves the absence of seams and eliminates the need for glue. A mould is crafted based on the final design, and this mould is immersed in a liquid latex vat to effortlessly shape the material into the desired form. This method proves particularly effective for crafting items such as gloves and stockings, which pose challenges in traditional manufacturing processes due to their intricate shapes and curves. Despite the convenience of shaping these products, challenges arise from the flow of the liquid, making it difficult to specify a set thickness for moulded items, unlike traditional garments.
